Vocational Rehabilitation

What is Vocational Rehabilitation?

Returning to work after illness, injury, or when living with a long-term health condition can be challenging. Vocational Rehabilitation is an approach that supports people to return to or remain well in work, education or meaningful occupation.

Everyone’s health, life and work situation is slightly different and there is no ‘one size fits all’ approach. I take time to understand the individual, the workplace and job demands. This allows us to work together to identify and overcome barriers that may be impacting on a person’s health and work.

I offer a range of Vocational Rehabilitation services to support employers and individuals who are employees or self-employed.

Assessment, appointments, training and consultancy can be accessed remotely and are available nationwide.

Sustainable Return to Work Support

When a health condition affects your ability to work, knowing how and when to return can feel overwhelming.  This is where I come in. As an Occupational Therapist, I understand the relationship between health, function and job demands. I look at what a person needs to be able to do at work, what are the barriers getting in the way and how can we create a realistic and sustainable return to work.

I offer:

  • A full vocational rehabilitation assessment
  • Support and guidance to help you to build mental and physical readiness for work
  • An AHP Health and Work Report with tailored recommendations and return to work plan.
  • Follow-up review to ensure things are going smoothly once you return

I can also work together with you and your employer for a more joined up approach.

Workforce Health Training and Solutions

As a manager, supporting an employee with a long-term health condition can feel challenging when you are unsure what to say, what support to offer, or how to balance individual health needs with workplace demands.

I offer interactive and practical training to help managers feel more informed and confident to support employees with long-term health conditions in the workplace.

Training supports managers to recognise functional difficulties at work, understand how health conditions can affect day-to-day working and provides them with frameworks to have compassionate health-focussed conversations.  Sessions will also cover legislation and reasonable adjustments, so managers can feel more confident in implementing strategies and support that makes a meaningful difference.

Workplace Function and Wellbeing Consultancy

Not every business has access to occupational health support, but they may need advice from time to time to ensure they can best support employees with long-term health conditions in the workplace.

I provide tailored Vocational Rehabilitation consultancy, combining occupational therapy expertise with an understanding of workplace demands. I help businesses to find practical, person-centred solutions when health and work no longer feel aligned.

Whether you need advice on reasonable adjustments, guidance on supporting an individual employee, or support reviewing and developing workplace policies, I work in partnership with you to find a way forward.
